Expecting a quick fix
The supplement and diet industry rely on us needing this; this is why there are all these promises if you take this pill or that pill, this plan or that plan you will attain these results in X amount of days. This only sets you up to be discouraged and fail.
Dont expect a quick fix; you have to realize you didn’t gain all this weight or get out of shape overnight; it was a slow fade.
I see this with women getting plastic surgery as well, a tummy tuck, implants, their stomach stapled.
They have got a quick fix for everything. The only thing with a quick fix is it leaves out the one ingredient that will make it last…..MINDSET. Your mindset, the discipline that comes with hard work, is the thing that makes those results so worth it.
I’ve had a few clients that have had their stomachs stapled to help them lose weight, it may seem like the best option, and yes, they may lose weight. What they don’t do is magically build the discipline to eat healthily and work out. You need both those to build and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
I know its so tempting to want a quick fix, but they never work out they send you in a never-ending maze.
To restrictive with your eating
We’ve all done it, low carb, no-carb, cabbage soup, low fat, no fat, liquid cleanses I could go on and on. Your body needs all three macronutrients to function at its best, and if it doesn’t get them, you will lack in your health in one or more areas, and that is not fun, and you cant maintain that.
You dont need to starve yourself to see results; you need to eat balanced and for your goal.
Goals are not clear
If you dont have a goal well, that’s a problem all in itself; you need a goal a target to keep you focused. If your goal is not specific enough, then again, it will be hard to track and easy to let go.
Example:
“I want to lose weight ” this is not specific
“I want to lose 5lbs” is more specific
“I want to lose 5lbs in 6 weeks” is even more specific
The clearer your goals are, the easier it will be to build a plan and know what you need to do daily.
Unrealistic expectations
This is a very common one I see in women, and I’m speaking from experience. We say we want to lose 15 lbs in 30 days or train 5-6 days a week when we haven’t worked out for a ew months or years.
Check out a couple of blog posts I’ve created if you are starting or haven’t worked out in awhile. I think they will help.

Remember, it didn’t take you overnight to get where you are and it’s not going to take a night to get to where you want to be. You will have to set small daily goals that align with your overall goal and trust the process, be patient and stay focused.
Waiting for the right time
This is a mindset trap; there will never be the right time. Dont wait to start, start right now with what you have. Procrastination will tell you tomorrow will be better or next week or after the holidays, IT WON’T!
It will be the same hard as it is now you have to learn in this moment to decide to take your power back and take charge of your life. Use what you have and start now YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE PERFECT!! you just need to try.
All or Nothing mentality
This mentality is a bit of a sickness I think, a bit of a disordered thinking. You have to learn to go with the flow and do your best each day and work with what you have. If you mess up your meal, dont right your whole day off or not work out. Keeping moving forward.
If you fall down, you pick yourself up and start again right away, dont wait.
Beating yourself up
GIRL! This never works!! Nothing healthy can grow from abuse. If you constantly focus on your flaws or if you mess up, you will never get there. What you focus on you magnify, learn to focused on the positives in your life. I find starting a morning routine with a gratitude list, affirmations and prayer help this.
Picking something you dont enjoy
You need to find something you love with something you need, a bit of mixture to keep you growing & lifted mentally.
I say this because if you like to lift weights but have lots of weight or fat to lose and have a time frame, you may need to add cardio even if it’s not your favourite thing to do.
Same goes for my cardio queens, you may love to do cardio all the time but your goal is to build your booty well you are going to have to add weightlifting in order to do that.
Focusing only on your appearance
This is a scary trap and one I know all too well. I call this body dysmorphia; this can happen to all different degrees. But most women will struggle a bit with this. When you start a program, you track your weight in the gym, not on the scale. Make sure you track your progress so you see your health improving, and by doing this, you will put your mindset in a healthy state.
It so exciting seeing your body change and discouraging when you do not see physical changes. That’s why it is important to focus on your nutrition and workouts and how you feel. This will help you stay on track and help you reach your goals way faster.
Well, I hope this gave you clarity if this relates to you! I hope I’ve inspired you to keep going and never give up.
