There are three different body types that women have, and it is your body type that can dictate how well you respond to different types of training and nutrition.
The three different body types are:
Ectomorph, endomorph, mesomorph. Each has its own characteristics that can help you determine which body type you have. Then you will be able to adjust your training and eating habits accordingly to reach your goals!
Ectomorph Body Type
A woman with the body type Ectomorph is characterized by thin bones, a smaller frame, and smaller joints.
They are usually considered skinny, and it is difficult for them to gain weight because their body processes food faster (aka higher metabolism).
However, it doesn’t mean they have no fat, but that amount of fat can grow with age.
If this is your body type you probably have a slim or straight shape, and it may be challenging to gain muscle mass.
However, you can strengthen your body with weight lifting. People with this body type are typically better at endurance-type sports.
ECTOMORPH BODY TYPE GENERALLY
- More narrow shoulder and hips in respect to height
- Smaller muscles with respect to bone length.
- Fast metabolism makes it difficult for many to gain.
Endomorph Body Type
A woman with the body type endomorph possesses thicker bones, smaller shoulders, shorter limbs, more body fat, and less muscle mass.
The body stores high-carb type foods as fat instead of burning them. That is why endomorphs are likely to gain fat in their lower belly and hips and find it more difficult to lose weight.
Endomorph body type is recognized by rounded and curvy figure; for women, weight lifting mixed with cardio and intervals is going to be the most effective fat loss tool.
ENDOMORPH BODY TYPE GENERALLY
- higher levels of body fat
- “bigger boned”
- harder to lose, easier to gain
- shorter arms and legs
- apple shaped body
- wide waist & hips
- responds better to higher protein diets
- can’t get away with overeating
- fall asleep easily
- may not handle carbs well
Mesomorph Body Type
A woman with the body type Mesomorphic type tends to generally lose fat and build muscle quicker than others; that is why activities as bodybuilding suit them well.
A woman with a mesomorphy body type may be able to eat a little more of “what she wants” with less worry but still needs to watch her calorie intake as well.
MESOMORPH BODY TYPE GENERALLY
- even weight distribution
- medium build
- typically low body fat
- can be described as a naturally athletic build
